We recently created the “I'll use Arial when Helvetica freezes over” wallet as our personal nod (and slight jibe) to the lingering debate between which of these titans of typefaces is the better. In case you don't know the story it goes a little something like this: Man creates typeface, typeface changes the face of advertising as we know it, large corporation likes typeface, corporation creates extremely similar typeface, designers bicker back and forth for decades about which is better.

We wanted to create a basic wallet design that would speak to our love and support of the Helvetica type family, and at the same time would allow others to express their mutual love as well. The solution was to simply set our baited slogan, “I'll use Arial when Helvetica freezes over” on a black and white background and let the beauty that is Helvetica shine in all its minimalist glory. As a companion piece to the wallets we also had classic black on white stickers printed, which are sent out as freebies when a wallet is purchased on the Etsy store.

Since the project has launched we have mailed stickers and wallets to every continent on the planet. The wallets and stickers have received press all over the world, and have been well received by the design community.
