Mystic Forest Dwellers \ Logo Design \ Identity Design \
When fellow plush artist extrordinairre and Nickelodeon animation designer, Michal Wright-Ward, approached us about working with her to create a logo for her new Mystic Forest Dwellers line of toys we were both shocked and amazed. We were already avid fans of her work, which we had followed via our own plushie side project, Dolls for Friends. We never dreamed, however, that she would call upon us as designers to help craft the look and feel of her new logo. We eagerly jumped at the chance.
The brief called for a print and web-ready logo that attempted to encompass the mystical, fun and childlike nature of the small line of plush monsters she was creating. The logo also had to be versatile because it would be used across a wide range of online and traditional media.
We spent quite a bit of time in our sketchbooks brainstorming and exploring ideas and directions that we thought would speak to the whimsical nature of the project. What we walked away with was a series of hand drawn elements that we could use as the basis for our logo. We then moved to our “digital space” and began working on digitizing our elements and settling in on compositional structures, which would lead to our final design.
What we ended up with was a fun, versatile logo that captures the mystical nature of the Mystic Forest Dwellers line, but also attempts to portray the feel of more classic animation and illustration.
